Among the many topics with high interest and political debate, we could highlight one where the lack of consensus seems to be the exception: the Argentine labor market needs and must improve. We know very little about it, its composition, its variables, its differences between sectors or provinces, mainly due to the scattered nature of information sources and the complexity they present for processing.
Infodash proposes a solution to this problem. Using publicly available data from various sources, such as the Center for Production Studies (CEP XXI) and the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC), we developed a tool capable of answering a wide range of questions about the Argentine formal labor market.
Our dashboard allows you to explore the evolution and composition of registered workers, as well as the evolution of wages in dollars and gender participation in the labor market. Additionally, it is possible to filter by different periods, provinces, departments, and even labor activities, with the ability to explore information through various visualizations that include maps and geolocated data.
For example, this tool allows us to see that, with data as of November 2023, the sector with the highest number of registered employees in the economy is public administration with 3.4 million workers, followed by manufacturing (1.27 million), wholesale and retail trade (1.25 million), and education (0.7 million). In terms of average gross salary measured in dollars (counted with settlement), jobs within "Mining and Quarrying" lead the ranking with an average of 1,514 dollars, followed by "Financial Intermediation" (1,232 dollars). Jobs in "Accommodation and Food Services" and "Education" are at the bottom, with average salaries of 254 and 329 dollars respectively. On the other hand, the categories with the highest female participation are Education, Human Health and Social Services, and Financial Intermediation, with percentages of 73%, 72%, and 51% respectively. Construction had the lowest participation, with only 6.8% women.
